SJB Group is looking for a FULL TIME Business Development Representative in the marketing department with executing tasks included in marketing and business development. Majority of time is spent outside the firm making contacts, however, may participate in preparing qualifications packages and proposals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to the following:

  • Gathers information on potential clients and projects. Schedules meetings with new and, perhaps, existing or past clients to uncover project opportunities.
  • Typically solicits involvement of other members of firm in client meetings.
  • Develops and maintains strong business network as reliable source of information.
  • Reports on planned and executed sales activities to appropriate level of management.
  • Typically is held accountable for generating a certain amount of business within an established time frame.
  • May assist or develop scopes of work and fee estimates.
  • May assist in writing proposal sections and preparing qualifications packages.

  • Has excellent interpersonal skills, is highly organized and persistent, and follows though consistently.
  • Is able to handle rejection.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of firm's technical services, experience, and capabilities.
  • Is able to respond quickly and gracefully to a variety of difficult situations.
  • Represents firm in a manner consistent with corporate image and standards.
  • Is involved in several professional and civic associations, including SMPS.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:EXPERIENCE:
B.A. Marketing or Related Field. A minimum of five (5) years' experience ideally gained through increasingly responsible positions within Sales. A minimum of two (2) years' recent experience as a Sales Representative with responsibility acceptable procedures and practices of sales as related to the engineering, surveying and construction profession, operational characteristics, services and activities of a professional services office, contracts and contract law, Federal, state and local regulations and policies for the advertisement and selection processes for Professional Services contracts, modern office procedures, methods and computer software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, written and verbal correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed with involved and un-involved written or oral instructions.
