SUMMARY:

Performs drafting assignments within company and industry standards and codes. Works closely with Project Managers to obtain project information and ensure drawings are accurate and complete.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs CAD functions, drawings and processes field data on various types of Survey maps which include ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey, Boundary, Topographic, Right of Ways, Lease Boundary Surveys, as well as any other miscellaneous surveys.
  • Understands and follows the company's standard CAD procedures for layering, line types, colors, and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.
  • Prepare finished drawings from sketches, notes, layouts, detail, verbal instruction and other input material.
  • Will check drawings for quality assurance purposes.
  • May be required to prepare minor calculations.
  • Makes sure drafting assignments are of quality and within budget hours and on schedule.
  • Performs research of recorded documents of survey deeds.
  • Assists in ensuring compliance with internal corporate total quality control programs for relevant projects.
  • Performs assignments as part of a team involved in the planning, organizing, and developing of projects, and maintains proper documentation and reports.
  • Inputs information into a Complete Project Database for use by the entire Surveying Department to gather information about past projects as well as information pertaining to future projects.
  • May train or provide assistance to less experienced technicians to help them resolve difficult operating tasks or drawing production problems.
  • May assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Assists in the analysis and preparation of reports, maps, drawings, plans, and other items to plan and design project.
  • May perform minor design calculations.
  • Assists project managers in developing project concept designs, and final project designs.
  • Evaluates shop drawings.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in field of expertise.
  • Coordinates with management as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining files and administrative group liaison (clerical and admin).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

4 plus years of experience with the above responsibilities in land surveying. An Associate's degree or a four-year college degree preferred. Must be proficient in AutoCAD. InRoads experience a plus. Land Desktop and Micro Station experience desired.
